THE BALL
THE BALL, ANOTHER WHISTLING ROCK
Nine colored balls are located throughout the landscape to provide the golfer a different kind of journey – a mysterious “expedition of discovery” in art and nature. Reflecting the view of the landscape that surrounds it, each Ball contains the spectrum of nature's ever-changing colors.
The concept of the Balls starts with the idea that the journey of a round of golf is parallel to the journey of life. The seven colors of the spectrum can be found in the main parcel of the property, the “life” section, and in the isolated valley on the other side of the tunnel, the “afterlife” (also called “The Glen”), where the colors are metallic.
In 2013, WR and The Ball installation won a Korea Color Award given by the Korea Society of Color Studies. The KSCS is an academic society that recognizes achievements in color design mainly in fields such as urban and interior design, fashion, audio and video, and mass media.
WR is the first golf course to receive such an award since the award’s inception in 2004.
