Temple Course Modifications 2016

TEMPLE COURSE
MODIFICATIONS 2016

Modifications to Temple holes 1-7 were completed in June 2016. Notable changes included Holes 2,3,4 & 5.

TEMPLE 2 The green was re-built to gain more pinnable space. To increase playability and minimize the uphill climb on the approach shots of this long par 5, the surface was lowered and the approach was re-shaped. In the fairway, the 2nd landing area was re-shaped and a portion of the bunker removed to give the high handicapper a shorter carry over the valley in the middle of the hole.

TEMPLE 8 Hole 8 was changed from a long par 3 to a short par 4.
Hole 8 was previously a long par 3 that didn’t fit into the land as well as it could have. A beautiful mountain stream to the left was not being utilized to its full potential. Using the space where old 9 tees used to be and removing over a hundred trees left of the corridor, the new hole 8 is now a wide open field of play, perfect for a short par 4. The new 8th green hangs on a ledge close to the stream, about 330 yards away from the back tee. In between tee and green is a lot of undulating fairway that offers a multitude of options to approach the green. The steep bank of the swale behind old 8 green was used as a strategic feature crossing the fairway that will affect all decisions from the tee.

TEMPLE 9 Hole 9 was changed to a par 3.
Previously on hole 9, the fairway was not very visible and the lake hazard in front of the green was entirely not visible, creating a blind landing area for many tee shots on a downhill hole. Changing it to a par 3 enabled all players to be able to enjoy one of the most spectacular golf shots on the course with the gorgeous clubhouse in the background.
